Life of a College Student

1:21 or 2:21

As I may or may not have stated in the past, I’m a leader for the high school ministry at my church. This morning during Sunday school the speaker asked a pretty profound question in a way that I have never heard it put before. He asked if we were living a Philippians 1:21 life, which states, “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain“ or a Philippians 2:21 life, which states, “For everyone looks out for his own interests, not those of Jesus Christ“.

So basically, am I living my life for Christ and the advancement of His kingdom, or am I living it for myself and my own selfish motives? Woah…

Not one is perfect. We all have our selfish moments; I know that I have. But how many times am I living for myself rather than living for the God? Serving the One who gave me a hope for the future? The One who sacrificed his only son so that I can have eternal life? I really don’t have an excuse except for the fact that I’m an imperfect human, but that will only pardon so much of my behavior. I challenged my girls (and myself) to post a little reminder somewhere that they could see it every day.

So I’m a bit of a foodie. I love to be in the kitchen cooking and baking. I guess I like to eat, too. I am also addicted to stumbleupon.com. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, check it out. Right now. I’ll wait….

Hard to pull yourself away, yea? Well Im glad you came back to me. Anywho, I have just been stumbling the Food/Cooking category lately and seeing all of the beautiful cooking blogs, so I’m here to tell you that I will be attempting to so just that this weekend. 3 of the girls in my program are getting married this summer so we are having a joint bridal shower for the 3 of them this Saturday. Not having the budget to purchase three different gifts, I offered to bake some mini cupcakes for the occasion. After searching for the perfect recipe, I have finally decided on champagne cupcakes with a white chocolate buttercream. I haven’t had them before but they sure do sound delicious! So be looking forward to that and I will be looking forward to seeing you as well!

Hiatus

No need to contact missing persons! I’m still here, and still alive… barely though. (I know you all were so concerned)

This side of midterms tends to get a little crazy and insane. This term was/is no different. Things are still crazy as the term is wrapping up in the next few weeks, but I am hoping that after that I will be able to get back to my somewhat regular blogging. I have missed it. I feel as if I have been ignoring my camera and my blog. I see it in my top sites and I want to come and post, but then I realize that I wither don’t have time, should be doing something else, and/or I did not take any pictures. All of the above reasons suck.

Anyway, I’m just here to let you know that I’m alive and doing my best to survive the term! I will see you all very soon! (I hope!!)

This was a crazy weekend so these are up pretty last minute, but here they are!

Saturday- Coffee and cards. It's a tradition coming back!

Sunday- One of my girls getting baptized! Wahoo!!

Monday- Beautiful sunset

Tuesday- New ring all the way from Peru!

Wednesday- Another gorgeous sunset! It was amazing weather this week

Thursday- Drove home for the weekend. This is suppose to be my exit....

Friday- Hanging out with my munchkin.

I grew up with my mom always quoting “Red sky at night, sailors delight. Red sky in morning, sailors take warning”. This week the sailors are delighting in the weather! The first picture is from Monday and the second one is from last night. If only my camera could capture the true beauty in the sky.

Saturday- Spent the day with my little bro at the Oregon Jazz Festival. He looks just like our big brother!

Sunday- Best. Ice cream. Ever.

Monday- The "I know..." project starts this week! I know... the one and only living God

Tuesday- My friend got me this fun phone charm... the purple glasses reminded her of me

Wednesday- Pre-homework snack. Marionberry something-or-other pastry and a vanilla latte. YUM!

Thursday- Made this delicious cake! Mmmm.... chocolate peanut-butter

Friday- New additions to my hair- feathers!!

Nothing makes me happier than a great cup of coffee! Coffee pairs great with friends, cold days, and even homework. One of my favorite places is the Governor’s Cup (aka the Gov Cup) in downtown Salem, OR. It has a great cozy hole the wall feel where I can sit for literally hours working on my homework. Not only that but they serve fantastic coffee and pastries! Yum!

Saturday- I made a hat

Sunday- It rained.... a lot

Monday- Taking advantage of the rare sunny day

Tuesday- Who says college students don't eat well? Ignore the fact that this was consumed at 9 pm

Wednesday- Stopped by the fountain to snap some pics

Thursday- My interpreting gear. Danskos and a fun leather bag! Spent the day in workshops

Friday- Stir fry for one. Smelled, looked, and tasted delicious.

I was really excited for this week’s challenge, but like Beth I struggled finding circles for whatever reason.
Anyway, without further ado… here’s my shot

Two of my favorite circles. These are my wood-cookies from camp. To work at this camp you are required to have a camp name, and Ace has been mine sine I was a camper. Our wood-cookies help show off your camp name as well as your personality. It’s inevitable that I end up making wood-cookies for many counselors each summer. You can find these suckers hanging from the mirror in my car reminding me of all my awesome camp memories over the years.
